Mention of a trade name or company in this publication does not imply endorsement of any product or company by the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia... Overall, 60-70 per cent of flour is used in traditional flat breads, 20-25 per cent of flour is used in western style breads and 5-10 per cent is used in cakes and biscuits... In summary, canola varieties sown 2-3 weeks earlier than normal (early to mid April) can be grazed in winter prior to bud elongation (usually providing 600-800 dse grazing days/ha) and recover with no impact on yield or oil...

The relative effectiveness was calculated at the effectiveness of N at a depth compared with the effectiveness of N in the top-soil (0-0.2 m layer)... (A assuming Bulk density of 1.5), B % of sites measured to that depth not of the 474 cores).. The trials necessarily included whatever deep soil N the crops could access and so the responses will be weighted by that contribution from deep N. For tools such as Yield Prophet , the N at depth is usually measured and included in the model the roots for most of the soils in Yield Prophet are set to unconstrained growth...

The paper is based on the concept that Controlled Traffic Farming (CTF) systems are the future of the grains industry all cropping industries... The paper discusses some of the important production drivers in the grazing operations, being pasture improvement, crop: stock land mix and stocking rate... Using single variant analysis we can see that profit was largely influenced by yield the variation in yield was heavily influenced by how efficient the water was used rather than just the amount of rain received across all regions...

Rhizobia R hizobia are living micro-organisms (also called root-nodule bacteria) n odules on legume roots contain rhizobia, which fix nitrogen from the air Ea ch type of legume is nodulated by a specific type of rhizobia, which are identified as belonging to different "inoculant Groups" R hizobia in inoculants do not survive well in extremes of temperature (over 30 C and at freezing temperatures) or drying conditions that lead to desiccation Di fferent legume-rhizobia associations will tolerate different soil conditions... Generally rhizobia preferences are similar to those of the legume host - medic, pea, faba bean and chickpea rhizobia prefer neutral to alkaline soils (ph CaCl2 6.0 - 7.5) - lupin rhizobia tolerate acid soils (ph CaCl2 less than 6.0) 2 Photo: G. CumminG.. Always apply the seed dressing first and allow it to fully dry before applying the rhizobia as a second process Al ways use inoculants before their expiry date R eseal opened bags of peat inoculant and use them within 2 weeks of first opening the bag..

Western Australian grower Stott Redman has decided to find out for himself if the cover crops he has read so much about will work in his high-rainfall region to improve soils, limit waterlogging and ultimately lift crop productivity.. For the past two seasons, Western Australia grower Stott Redman has planted millet as a cover crop in a bid to address declining soil health on his white sandy soils... Stott bought the farm, 590 kilometres south-east of Perth at Hopetoun in south-eastern WA, 10 years ago with his wife Charmaine and parents Bill and Yvonne...
