Viability of unmanned continuous cropping and use of machinery to address labour constraints.. I believe that using GM varieties with non-selective chemical traits, growers would be able to have continuous cropping as an achievable option, instead of being pressured into a pasture phase, hay production or buying expensive equipment for trash collection when harvesting or shielded sprayers and wider sowing rows... Conclusion I believe Australia has a great future in growing wheat and continues to need a rotation of some description (e.g. crops or pasture phase) to maximise wheat quality and yields...

[Photo (left) by Rebecca Thyer: Teesdale's Andrew Morrison is growing only GM canola this year (2009), following his successful trial last year.].. Mr Morrison says that despite just 165 millimetres of in-season rain (the 2008 total of 331mm was down from the farm's 475mm average), the GM hybrid canola averaged 1.2 tonnes/ha, which was 38 per cent more than the TT canola at 0.86t/ha... Mr Morrison says the extra costs involved in using GM varieties are comparable to using TT canola, when the extra chemicals needed for conventional varieties are taken into account. "..
