I believe that Suzanne's comment reflected that while the board and directors had a well-managed and profitable business run in a responsible manner, they had lost touch with public perception and had not recognised or understood that the community now had a different expectation to how water resources are managed... What surprised me with this research was that it was being duplicated in neighbouring states, and that neither trial work had a control plot where a crop was grown under "best management practice" with the yield, response, and economic outcomes being measured against the other trial work... With the communication phase of succession, I believe we need to receive the affirmation of all parties included...

I believe those farmers who have the philosophy "my job is to grow the grain, not market it" may struggle under a new freer grain marketing arrangement, especially if they are not prepared to spend time on that arm of their business... The issue of accountability, often seen as a negative, can actually be a powerful tool to help drive a business forward I saw many examples of joint ventures in my Nuffield travels, some of which I will provide more detail on later in this report... I believe one of the great opportunities in agriculture currently is for more farmers to take control of their own destiny and create their own opportunities by becoming more business savvy...

Why Weeds are necessary for Regeneration The main difference between "sustainability" and "regeneration" I believe is that most country is in dire need of vast improvement and having a mentality that sustainability or "protection" is good enough throws up two unfortunate blockages, particularly in the rangelands... If we can progress past this blockage than the alternative is for us to have "an abundance mentality" and create a positive situation where we produce far more than we could before by using different principles and attitude"... Outcomes: By using innovative principles of land and animal management and by continuing to learn and develop synergistic enterprises I am buoyed by the opportunity and potential we have to focus on improvements in all facets of our management from ecology, economy and social / community development in rural areas...
