The Australian Government is introducing a cost on greenhouse emissions, via a carbon price, from 1 July 2012... It is projected that these cost items will increase as a carbon price is introduced, as a consequence of the fuel costs associated with their delivery and application which will be borne by heavy vehicles from 2014... The results obtained can be regarded as indicative only, but serve to highlight the implications of a carbon price and the potential challenge farm businesses will face...

GRDC northern panel chairman James Clark, said four Grower Updates were being held in northern NSW and southern Queensland during February and March that would provide invaluable updates to research and farming practices...
