In particular I believe state and national agricultural lobby groups would benefit from the recommendations as they do much of the work in promoting agriculture in Australia and inevitably are used as media sources by agricultural and non agricultural journalists alike... Sir Gill says short answers of 20-25 seconds are effective, which I believe is an excellent technique when being interviewed by news journalists as it fits the "grab" length they would want for their bulletins... Rather than use the report to outline some of the traditional methods used by PR professionals such as holding press conferences and writing releases, I will instead look at some of the other approaches around the world to deliver the message of agriculture to the public...

The threat could hinder Australian agriculture's ability to perform and compete internationally; to minimise the threat we should discuss a cross-commodity program, which involves government, and develops an understanding within our urban community of modern farming practices and the benefit of this to the environment, animals and people of Australia... Some specialists (Haniotis, 2011) reported strong government support, especially where the cost of supporting sustainable rural communities and the loss of eco-services provided by agriculture is properly valued against the cost of supporting agriculture... As a result of this missing contract the community supports agriculture less and less and the example was given in the States 22..

I believe that Suzanne's comment reflected that while the board and directors had a well-managed and profitable business run in a responsible manner, they had lost touch with public perception and had not recognised or understood that the community now had a different expectation to how water resources are managed... What surprised me with this research was that it was being duplicated in neighbouring states, and that neither trial work had a control plot where a crop was grown under "best management practice" with the yield, response, and economic outcomes being measured against the other trial work... With the communication phase of succession, I believe we need to receive the affirmation of all parties included...

An international alliance to advance wheat breeding - known as CAIGE - may not be high in the consciousness of Australian grain growers, but it is delivering benefits by helping to deliver new varieties with better yields... The elite genetic material, sourced from CIMMYT and ICARDA's scanning of global diversity in wheat's genetic material, is fast-tracked into Australia's commercial gene pool as advanced breeding lines, targeting yield, disease resistance and stress tolerance... Breeding lines sourced through CAIGE are grown alongside local varieties in Australian environments, including at sites located across the WA grainbelt, to allow for differences in environmental conditions and seasonal risks...

Philanthropists are helping to reverse declining funding for international agricultural research, with important flow-on benefits for Australian grain growers... The broader benefit for all grain growers was also talked about by Carlos Slim (a Mexican business magnate) at the inauguration ceremony: "This alliance to promote research and development by CIMMYT, with the collaboration of national and international scientists dedicated to improved seed and generating more efficient techniques, is a step toward making this knowledge available to farmers everywhere, particularly small and intermediate-scale farmers, as well as promoting economic growth, employment, and food self-sufficiency and exports from this sector," he said...
