Although not often immediately thought of when 'crop pest' is mentioned, vertebrate animals (birds, mice, pigs, rabbits, wild dogs and kangaroos) can be a major problem in certain field cropping situations, with the potential to cause major damage to crops or property... Whether an animal becomes a pest can also be influenced by environmental conditions, for example drought can force animals into cropping areas or excellent seasonal conditions can promote breeding cycles... Native animals can become pests of crops or pose a threat to humans...

Why Weeds are necessary for Regeneration The main difference between "sustainability" and "regeneration" I believe is that most country is in dire need of vast improvement and having a mentality that sustainability or "protection" is good enough throws up two unfortunate blockages, particularly in the rangelands... If we can progress past this blockage than the alternative is for us to have "an abundance mentality" and create a positive situation where we produce far more than we could before by using different principles and attitude"... Outcomes: By using innovative principles of land and animal management and by continuing to learn and develop synergistic enterprises I am buoyed by the opportunity and potential we have to focus on improvements in all facets of our management from ecology, economy and social / community development in rural areas...

Other impacts and conflicts of interest may have a long term effect on the success of implementing genomics and I will address these issues the dairy industry and policy makers will need to consider if it is to be successful... The Australian dairy industry has seen vast genetic improvements over the last 70 years with the introduction of Artificial Insemination (AI), herd testing, semen processing, sire proofing, introduction of breeding values for traits and now the evolution of genomic technology... It is imperative that any data collected from herd recording figures, workability data or confirmation evaluation, needs to follow a clear and definite path to the final users in order for service providers to evaluate in an appropriate and prompt manner delivering accurate and valuable information to the farming industry to allow farmers to make more informed decisions to drive their business into the future...

Dr Bell says several studies have shown a response to magnesium and/or sodium supplement in sheep grazing forage wheat, but the response in cattle has previously received little validation... One paddock was supplemented with a mix of Causmag (MgO):Salt (NaCl) and cracked grain at an allowance of 140 grams/head/day... Dr Bell says growers should provide stock with a mixture of 1:1 Causmag (MgO):Salt (NaCl) at an allowance of 20 grams/head/day for sheep and 140g/head/day for cattle...

But I believe my mind was sufficiently open to face the reality of what I was to investigate and the principle that we could adapt if there is the need to change Distance usually prevents Australian producers involved in the Livestock export trade a full appreciation of all fundamentals steering the future direction of their industry and individual businesses... There is also a demand for the direct purchase of live animals particularly in the Muslim festivals... The factors strongly indicate there will always be a demand for the supply of live animals to the many nations without the capacity to produce livestock themselves...
