Peer-to-peer learning pushes success in extension.. After travelling through North America to look at the US and Canadian systems, which seemed to rely less on information sharing by growers and more of a top-down approach to dissemination of information, Chris visited Ireland and Europe where research and extension is largely privatised... The number of dairy discussion groups in Ireland has gone from 50 to 500 and Chris believes he understands why it has been so successful: "Benchmarking is an important tool," he says...
