higher stable grain yield

Catalogue: GRDC 2014 Research Summaries
Australian farmers have incurred heavy losses due to frequent drought in the recent past as current chickpea varieties are not adapted to drought, cold and saline conditions besides the killer diseases like Fusarium wilt (FW), Botrytis grey mould (BGM) and Ascochyta blight (AB)... The losses caused by these stresses can be avoided by genetic options such as incorporating resistance genes and managing the stresses through chemicals and agronomic approaches... The improved varieties, once adopted by Australian farmers, will imply higher and stable grain yield with better grain quality and will reduce the cost of inputs and improve profitability for growers...
