The project will increase water use efficiency in mixed crop/livestock systems on 433 farms while concurrently improving whole farm profitability, sustainability and groundcover... It will - increase water use efficiency ($/mm rainfall) by 10.7% across participating mixed farms - increase regional profitability of $18.0 million ($42,118 per participating farmer) increase through increased stocking rate by better utilisation of feed grown (indicator will be WUE improvements at the whole farm level) and improved crop production through best agronomic practice... GRDC funded research is looking at early sowing strategies to cope with drying Autumns...

The aim of the project is to develop and promote the adoption of production practices in mixed farming systems on Eyre Peninsula that will improve whole farm profitability and sustainability and increase the efficient use of water and nutrients...
