Pulse and oilseed diseases which cost growers in the southern cropping region tens of millions of dollars every year are being tackled head-on through a suite of research programs being funded by the Grain Research and Development Corporation (GRDC)... The GRDC is taking a three-pronged approach to disease prevention and management by: developing oilseed and pulse varieties with greater resistance to foliar fungal diseases; keeping abreast of fungal disease dynamics; and developing and extending management packages to control foliar fungal diseases on-farm and prolong the useful life of Australia's fungicide options... Wheat curl mite (WCM) is a vector of wheat streak mosaic virus and a new website has been established to help growers better understand this pest Growers in areas prone to wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) are being encouraged to use the website www.wheatcurlmite.org as a one-stop-shop for information on the pest and to help researchers with tracking outbreaks... Launched earlier this year and funded by the GRDC, the website was created by the Centre for Environmental Stress and Adaption Research (CESAR) as an online repository for facts and management guidelines concerning WSMV and its vector, the wheat curl mite...
