Aim: Randomly survey paddocks in key agricultural regions for ryegrass and determine the resistance status of the region to the pre-emergent herbicide trifluralin #. , the resistance status to post-emergence herbicides was also tested... The work has shown that further field trial work should be conducted to further assess the performance of KIH-485... 0 2000 Dual Gold (ml/ha) 0 2000 Dual Gold (ml/ha) New WP250 Formulation A new WP250 formulation was developed by the same chemical company and seed-treated on wheat and barley...

Efficacy of pre-emergent herbicides in different environments** Over the past five years we have been investigating alternative herbicides for control of trifluralin in annual ryegrass... wagga preston Figure 1: Performance of pre-emergence herbicides on trifluralin-resistant annual ryegrass at Roseworthy, SA (higher rainfall site, left) and Berriwillock, Vic (lower rainfall site, right) in no-till wheat sown using knife points and press wheels... Overall, both models are acceptable for modelling soil evaporation over a range of soils and seasons provided accurate soil physical properties and starting water states are known... Overall, populations increased five times compared to before planting the summer crops, but remained below 250/kg soil (Figure 4)...

In summary, it could be argued that none of the currently available preemergence herbicides have the required stability in efficacy to become viable alternatives to postemergence group A or imidazolinone herbicides... Overall, 2012 seasonal conditions tended to favour early and mid flowering and maturing varieties...

Laboratory and glasshouse trial results showed that dodder can successfully parasitise legume crops, sub-clover and canola with the highest preference to lupin... A third experiment examined the germination of dodder seeds in pot soils in the presence and absence of host plants such as lupins, field pea and chickpea... Methods : The efficacy of selective post-emergent herbicides on the control of dodder in all host crop and pasture species was evaluated under glasshouse conditions...

Until, a few years down the track, herbicide resistance emerges as a result of using below recommended label rates... AHRI postdoctoral fellow Dr Roberto Busi warns that Sakura (Group K) is a great pre-emergence herbicide to control ryegrass, but using below-label rates poses a risk of rapid evolution of ryegrass resistance and should be avoided... To develop a cost efficient herbicide budget, AHRI suggests growers consider using the more expensive herbicides at full rates over smaller areas and concentrating on doing a good job - rather than cutting rates over bigger areas...

Several field studies were undertaken in SA and WA to identify promising herbicides for the control of barley grass in wheat... After barley grass was confirmed to be increasing on SA and WA farms, laboratory studies were undertaken to determine the reasons for this trend... The project was designed to identify weeds that were emerging as a threat to productivity of grain crops in SA and WA and to undertake studies to determine underlying reasons for their increasing incidence...
