WA has RLEM resistance to synthetic pyrethroids (SP) confirmed on 49 properties.. RLEM from a WA property were found in 2014 with both SP resistance and tolerance to the organophosphate (OP) omethoate.. Ms Micic says if a TIMERITE spray is used in spring to reduce mite numbers in a paddock that will be cropped to canola, it is vital to continue monitoring that paddock in autumn for RLEM...

The collation of the information into a recently developed database has provided a summary of the 2005 and 2006 reports... Higher rate observed at site 1 is due to the soil having a higher soil carbon levels (1.2%) compare to site 2 (0.8%) and lower amounts of net immobilisation... When all stubble fractions are incorporated into the amount soil inorganic nitrogen immobilised can be up to 45 kg N/ha...

By observing several precautions, growers can ensure that grain coming off their farm is compliant with the maximum pesticide residue limits that apply to Australian exports... Violations of maximum residue limits (MRLs) affect the marketability of Australian grain exports, and consequences may include costs being imposed on exporters and/or growers... The Fact Sheet states it is essential that both pre-harvest and post-harvest chemical applications adhere to the Australian Grain Industry Code of Practice, only registered products are used and all label recommendations, including rates and withholding periods, must be observed...

The sensitivity of the variety is summarised, using the following symbols based on the yield responses across all trials: - not tested or only tested at higher than recommended rate (Please check Preliminary Evaluation tables) no significant yield reductions at higher than recommended rates in (Z) trials N (narrow margin) significant yield reductions at higher than recommended rate in 1+ trials ONLY x% yield reduction (warning) significant yield reduction at recommended rate in 1 trial only x-y% yield reductions (warning) significant yield reductions at recommended rate in 2+ trials.. Any research regarding pesticides or their use reported in this website does not constitute a recommendation for that particular use by the authors, the author's organisations or ACAS... It must be emphasised that crop tolerance and yield responses to herbicides are strongly influenced by seasonal conditions...

The research has been conducted across regional Victoria to determine if new and existing varieties of barley vary in tolerance to commonly used herbicides... All pesticide applications must accord with the currently registered label for that particular pesticide, crop, pest and region... It must be emphasised that crop tolerance and yield responses to herbicides are strongly influenced by seasonal conditions...

" Core DRT Database to Support the Ground Application of Pesticides (boom sprayer), accommodating Nozzles, Formulations and Adjuvants.. The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) recently implemented new policy requiring new pesticides to be assessed for the potential risk of spray drift, but has indicated that it will consider submission of further data by stakeholders to develop a drift reduction factor model, incorporating the use of new technology low drift spray nozzles, shrouds and spray additives... New research will fine-tune best practice spray approach..

For many pesticides it is an APVMA mandatory requirement not to spray when inversions exist... There is clearly a need for improved inversion risk management systems.A pilot scoping study has been proposed to test the feasibility of robust and economically viable instrumentation and high-resolution modeling to detect and predict surface inversions and to quantify conditions (such as drainage wind occurrence) within inversions that affect the transport and dispersion of airborne pesticides for specific locations... It is anticipated that results of the scoping study will lead to:Decreased incidents of spray drift due to a better understanding and awareness by growers and the general community about the micro-climate variables related to inversions.A code of practice to assist grower decisions evolving from the information gathered from the analysis of instrumented towers and from the modeling; a code similar to the harvesting codes where a family of variable conditions determines risk and acceptable practices...
