Mouse monitoring a must to reduce crop damage risk.. NMMWG chair Ian Hastings says that monitoring must continue to occur on a paddock-by-paddock basis and growers should be prepared to bait immediately after sowing where higher than normal activity is identified. ".. Some breeding has been occurring and in those areas where mice caused significant damage last year or where paddocks are at high risk, considerable precautions must be taken."..

Richard Konzag using the Mouse Alert app.. Pest monitoring and management authorities warn that mice can cause damage to booting heads and maturing plants, so growers should keep a close eye on their crops as they develop grain... "In Victoria, mouse abundance is generally low across the Mallee and Wimmera regions, but growers should be vigilant as crops mature," said Dr Brown, who is involved in mouse-monitoring programs funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) in collaboration with Landcare Research New Zealand, CSIRO and the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries through the Invasive Animals Cooperative Research Centre (IACRC)...

Some canola proteins have good technological functionality compared to proteins currently being used for food manufacturing... Our study shows that globulin extracts had significantly higher emulsifying capacity (EC) than albumin extracts and SoyPI at all pH values tested (Figure 1)... The same trend was observed for SoyPI except for pH 9 at which SoyPI-stabilised emulsion had smaller droplet compared to that of globulin extracts even though the EC was not as good...
