Data from soil moisture probes is being used with Yield Prophet modelling to improve soil-type characterisations.. Mr D'Emden says initial results from the 2014 probes showed that half of the GS30 (June/July) Yield Prophet estimates were within 300 kilograms per hectare of the final crop yield, increasing to 70 per cent within 300kg at GS90, with a median difference between the Yield Prophet GS90 estimates and final yield of 0.35t/ha... The total PAW estimates require further calibration to account for the influence of subsoil constraints such as salinity, sodicity or acidity...

When grain enters storage it needs monitoring, just as a crop does, regularly throughout the growing season... Failure to monitor grain not only increases the risk of damage and loss but can delay delivery if an issue is rst identi ed at out-loading... Grain on the top of the stack is the last to be cooled/dried and is exposed to condensation insects are often found in the top of a storage first and favour damp, warm grain if aeration is operated when ambient relative humidity is above 85% grain moisture content can be increased causing moulding insects can enter a storage through any small opening including outlets and aeration ducts..
