Safety is a three-step process - identify hazards, assess risk and address the hazard... Most lids still require a climb to the top of the silo to inspect rubber seals and latch the lid before the silo will meet a half-life pressure test, required for effective fumigation... Safe and sound on the ground: Ground-operated lids reduce the number of times a silo has to be climbed, but most situations require a climb to secure the lid for effective fumigation...

The collation of the information into a recently developed database has provided a summary of the 2005 and 2006 reports... Higher rate observed at site 1 is due to the soil having a higher soil carbon levels (1.2%) compare to site 2 (0.8%) and lower amounts of net immobilisation... When all stubble fractions are incorporated into the amount soil inorganic nitrogen immobilised can be up to 45 kg N/ha...

Trangie Grains Research Update Precision farming, controlled traffic & farming systems.. Grains Research Update - Trangie August 2002 of weathering of Australian soils, resulting in a lower soluble mineral concentration in the soil water... Other issues Given the above results from our demonstration sites and issues raised concerning direct seeding and controlled traffic in the context of conservation farming, we believe more work still needs to be conducted to enable us and the machinery / adviser industry to more adequately offer advice to farmers on machinery / farming systems options...

Foreword The aim of the research was to find a cover crop, preferably a legume that was fast growing, would leave a heavy stubble residue after knock down, increase the fertility of the soil and reduce soil erosion... The paper outlines cover crops seen in Brazil, USA and France, their purpose, and the idea of planting more than one cover species in a fallow... A farm managed under this system provides the armour to protect the soil from wind and water erosion and acts as a buffer to protect soil life from extreme temperatures' (Brown, 2012)...
