The grain yield of canola was more sensitive to GS 32 dry matter cutting and given the 2-3 fold difference in the value of grain to feed value in canola, grazing at this late stage is likely to reduce gross margins... Dual purpose cutting did not reduce grain yield relative to the grain only yield of any crop type... Generally the Cycocel treatments applied alone at GS 24 and 30 had the greatest increases on yield...

Moddus Evo was assessed for reduction of lodging in wheat at a range of rates and at different timings (Figure 1)... A range of rates of Moddus Evo were assessed for reduction of lodging and enhancement of yield in barley (Figures 2a and b)... Conversely during the course of the evaluation of Moddus Evo on the yield enhancement and reduction in lodging there were a few trials with anomalous results, where Moddus Evo application did not improve yield...

A survey of 142 Australian agronomists found that 20 per cent recommend the use of plant growth regulators in crop management of wheat, mainly due to improved lodging resistance followed by height reduction and improved yield... The paper provides a brief overview of current plant growth regulators (PGRs) and reports on selected results of a survey of Australian agronomist's use of PGRs in wheat production... When agronomists participating in the survey were asked to explain the benefits that come from using PGRs in wheat, effects on lodging and the related theme of height reduction were frequently reported (Figure 1)...
