We sowed Cargill Victory 3001 canola on the 15th of April, with a moderate moisture profile from decent Summer rain and 15mm 2 weeks post sowing the crop got a flying start and after good general sowing rain came in the middle of May the canola was fully cabbaged with knee high plants with no light penetration by early June... On the 15th of June we moved the stock in for 3 weeks, on the 200 ha went 3320 merino ewes with 3730 1st cross lambs at foot weighing approximately 25 kg's and well and truly weanable, also 1100 first cross lambs approximately 55 kg's being finished for market, and 1200 dry ewes also soon to go to market... Lastly the yield penalty is minimalised as long as the crop is locked up early enough...

Store carefully to protect grain value.. "As we have both summer and winter harvests, and most growers hold their own planting seed, there is rarely a time when growers have no grain being held on-farm," says senior development agronomist with the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) Philip Burrill... "Monitoring, hygiene and aeration won't solve all your problems, but growers who do these three things regularly and well, backed up by good records, will only need to fumigate for pests about once in every three years," he says...
