A proposed new Cooperative Research Centre - the Future Farm Industries CRC (FFI CRC) - is being considered to direct research into a new farming system that will better fit livestock and cropping industries into the Australian landscape... The proposed new research enterprise will seek to integrate perennial crops, including natives, into broadacre farming systems to improve profitability, tackle issues such as salinity and generate new regional industries... The GRDC, through its Pathways to Regulation project (AKC00003), has recently been successful in progressing an industry-initiated label change through the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)... The approval has allowed all registrants of paraquat to have their labels changed as an approved APVMA label ammendment... The reduction in withholding period from 14 days to 7 days for some paraquat herbicides on some labels will be good news for pulse growers - particularly lentil growers who intend to crop-top prior to harvest...
