Insect resistance to phosphine topped the agenda when more than 130 grains industry representatives met in Melbourne at the National Working Party on Grain Protection annual conference on 17 and 18 June... Dr Joanne Holloway, from the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, said that despite efforts to eradicate these populations, many bulk-handling sites have shown multiple infestations over time... In the area of pest ecology, Dr Greg Daglish, from Queensland DAFF, said the lesser grain borer, red flour beetle and rusty grain beetle had shown they were not confined to the grain storage environment, having been found in paddocks and native vegetation many kilometres from the nearest farm...
