Investigations of animal performance of sheep grazing dual-purpose wheat in southern found 2-fold variations in growth of lambs (daily gains between 0.5-1.0% of liveweight)... Overall, supplementation increased the beef production per hectare by 92 kg and increased returns by $246 at a cost of $22/ha (i.e. 6 c/hd/day)... Differences in the experiment were that stock did not consume the supplement as readily as in the previous experiment, growth rates were already extremely high, averaging 1.6 kg/hd/day in the unsupplemented treatment...

We applied the tools to two case study catchments in Western Australia (WA) and showed that by taking account of soil type and seasonal influences on crop yield potential, gains of $2-40/ha are possible... We used simulated estimates of wheat yield potential generated by the decision making tool, APSIM, from the past 30 seasons at locations in the Western Australian (WA) central wheat belt (Kellerberrin) and northern agricultural region (Mingenew), run over a wide range of soil types from each district...
