Maize kernals showing the milk line at different stages.. While grain can physically be harvested at up to 25% moisture, this is not recommended as drying costs will be high... When the milk line is half way down the length of individual grains, its milk line score is said to be 2.5 (0 before the line becomes visible at the top of grains and 5 once the line is at the base of the grains)...
