ABARE undertook a series of workshops across Australia last year speaking to grower groups and consultants to ascertain the main influences on productivity growth in the grains industry... For ABARE's Vince O'Donnell, who facilitated the workshops, the strongest message received was that widespread and extended drought had played a huge role in limiting productivity growth, along with a slower than expected uptake of new technology (including new varieties).
