David Trevilyan says while there has been limited opportunity for irrigation due to wet seasonal conditions since they installed the centre pivot across 100ha in 2012, the system is already proving a cost-effective investment... Saturated conditions due to rainfall in 2013, which prevented the Trevilyans from getting onto their waterlogged black soil to seed cotton, has added another dimension of difficulty to their on-farm practices, with the crop having to be planted at different times on the two soil types...
