Wheat stripe rust was detected across the northern grains region of Western Australia in 2015 - and thankfully all stripe rust samples processed were the original 'WA pathotype' (134 E16 A+)... It is possible that the eastern pathotypes derived from the original WA pathotype of wheat stripe rust with virulence for Yr17 and Yr27 may have hitched a ride back across to WA at the same time as the leaf rust pathotype... Any pathotypes of wheat stripe rust in WA with virulence for Yr17 need to be detected as soon as possible to enable the majority of growers who rely on Yr17 for stripe rust protection to respond with fungicides in a timely manner...
