Embryo rescue and plant regeneration in vitro of selfed chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) and it's wild annual relatives.. The aims of this study were to examine embryogenesis in selfed and hybridised ovules; to develop robust techniques to rescue immature embryos in_vitro using selfed chickpea ovules; to regenerate plantlets from rescued chickpea ovules; and to apply the best techniques to rescue interspecific hybrids... Some cross pollinated ovules were rescued in_vitro and putative hybrid plantlets were regenerated...
