The popular MyCrop diagnostic app has been expanded to include barley and canola, as well as wheat... "The app enables quick identification of a range of crop production constraints including diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, herbicide damage and many others," Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) development officer and project leader Kelly Ryan said... Ms Ryan said the app had been developed by DAFWA with funding from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), and it consolidated decades of the department's research and development on wheat, barley and canola production constraints...

" Generating baseline data to identify, quantify and manage soil constraints of the western plains NSW.. The project will benchmark and identify suitable sites to research soil constraints; conduct experiments to manage the constraint and make measurements; allowing the hypothesis that management of the constraint will have economic benefits to growers in both the short and long-term to be tested... Not all constraints may occur at any one site so the major constraint needs to be identified to determine whether the constraint can be economically managed...
