The results after 13 months of continuous grazing are shown in the Table below... There is particular interest in the grazing tolerance and drought tolerance of these hybrids... 7. New blue green aphid biotype As reported under "Other Research and Development Opportunities", we believe that we have discovered a new BGA biotype...
Catalogue:
Glyphosate resistance occurs where there is intensive use of glyphosate, no other effective herbicides and no other weed management tactics used... Continued use of glyphosate will increase the frequency of glyphosate resistance in populations... The project has confirmed that glyphosate resistance is most likely to occur where glyphosate is used intensively and no other effective weed control is practiced...

In a recent survey 96% of growers indicated their knowledge about soil health had increased as a result of this project; 94% indicated they were better at making decisions for their business regarding soil health and 91% indicated information from the Liebe Group had been useful for changing farm practices... Professor Daniel Murphy, of UWA, analysed results from the Liebe Group's long term Soil Biology Trial, which has been measuring soil organic carbon build up since 2003, and the results of this analysis have provided growers with an indication of realistic soil organic carbon levels th...

The principal aim of the project was to contribute to the continuing adoption of integrated pest management (IPM) by grain growers in the GRDC's northern region, specifically, the Darling Downs and Central Queensland... The finding suggests that the application of this technique for predator/prey field studies has limited field application... The outcome was achieved through facilitated learning by growers and their advisers via grower group meetings, field day demonstrations, technical literature and presentations by entomologists at technical forums e.g. Grower and Adviser Updates...

The research has made a significant contribution to our understanding of the mechanisms underlying these traits, identified novel strategies for further or more rapid improvements, and provides a solid foundation for both further research and better management of defects that result in downgrading of quality prior to harvest.. Annual screening of advanced lines from Australian breeding programs suggests little improvement in sprouting resistance despite breeders having had access to resistant germplasm and quantitative trait loci (QTL) information for a considerable period... Our work in B...

A reliable marker for CCN tolerance (crop yield in the presence of CCN) works across the entire germplasm in the National Oat Breeding Program... 441 DArT markers could be added to the previous map comprising 447 AFLP/RFLP/SSR markers... Marker '182oPc' is a breeder marker that can directly be used for marker-assisted selection (MAS) of CCN tolerance in the National Oat Breeding Program...

The incidence of disease, which is the proportion of plants that become infected during the season... The incidence of disease can be predicted before sowing, because it is directly related to the quantity of inoculum (infested crop residues)... The number of plants infected depends on how much stubble there is, and what proportion of this is infested with the fungus...
Catalogue:
No aphids were collected with MACE resistance to carbamate insecticides, including pirimicarb # - the insecticide widely recommended for GPA control in Australia... There was also no evidence of imidacloprid # resistance in Australian GPA. Border treatments were effective in reducing aphid immigration and virus transmission into canola paddocks from nearby sources, but further study is necessary to determine the effects on aphids arriving from longer distances... The results indicate that an 18 m buffer of Gaucho-treated plants has a significant effect on the immigration of aphids and the ...

The char fraction was separated from the <53 um fraction using high-energy ultra violet (UV) photo-oxidation... Figure 3 shows the changes in OC in the three fractions >200 um, 200-53 um and <53 um for the Waite soil with the equivalent of 30 and 0 tC ha -1(a and c) and the Lemnos loam soil (b and d) after the addition of plant residues... A knowledge of the chemistry of the fractions is essential if they are to be used to accurately predict soil properties and behaviour...

Field experiments were at weed-free sites, with comparison of yields from areas sprayed with registered herbicides at the recommended and double rates and untreated control areas for each cultivar... Not all cultivars were included in each field trial... Significant yield reductions at the recommended rate were recorded for the following herbicides and cultivars: Bromicide 200 - Binalong, 11% in 1 of 4 trials; Gilbert, 10% in 1 of 3 trials; Grimmett, 13% in 1 of 4 trials...
