Mortality and reproduction of Rhyzopertha dominica adults exposed for two weeks to grain treated with spinosad #, imidacloprid #, synergised pyrethrins and methoxyfenozide #... Mortality and reproduction of QRD788 adults exposed for two weeks to wheat treated with combinations of spinosad, s-methoprene and chlorpyrifosmethyl #.. Spinosad residues (mg/kg) on wheat treated with spinosad at 0.5 and 1 mg/kg and stored at 30 C. Results have not been corrected for recovery of 83%...

Final Report DAW00032: Improving weed management with biserrula in the pasture phase of WA cropping.. Casbah will persist through several years of crop has accumulated since the first experiments were conducted with this species in 1995-97, we have little hard data from controlled experiments to document and quantify this aspect of its performance... Using a novel system for estimating rhizobial numbers, where all three legumes are grown together in 100 ml vials, the Centre for Rhizobial Studies (CRS) followed rhizobial numbers in all plots in 2005 and in all rhizospheres for all species i...

Transient salinity in soils, characterised by high concentration of salts in the subsoil, varies with depth and changes throughout the season in response to rainfall, surface evaporation, water use by vegetation and the leaching fraction (hydraulic conductivity) of the clay layer... Experiments in our project have shown that transient salinity (accumulation of salt in root zone layers, not influenced by watertable) affects crop yield and growth in dry land regions mainly by reducing water use efficiency of crops through osmotic effect, although toxic effects of individual ions such as sodi...

The rapid, early phase of non-PPO darkening was strongly correlated with, and predicted by, protein content... Non-PPO darkening can be measured with small-scale methods suited to processing large numbers of samples and a major component of this darkening can be predicted simply from grain or flour protein content... Stage 1, an initial rapid darkening in the first two hours, Stage 2 an intermediate stage lasting a further 2 hours during which the rate of darkening slowed, and Stage 3 - lasting for the remainder of the experimental time period and beyond in which darkening was slower but l...

A collaborative effort was undertaken between the Crop Development Centre (Saskatoon, Canada), CLIMA (Crawley, Australia) and ICRISAT (Patancheru, INDIA) to develop an improved interspecific hybridization protocol in order to widen the genetic base of the cultivated chickpea... Keeping the hybrid embyos/ovules on the parent plant as long as possible increases the likelihood that hybrids develop to the globular or heart 4 thInternational Food Legume Research Conference October 18-22, 2005, New Delhi, India shaped stage... An experiment was conducted comparing a one-time hormone application ...

It should be noted that these trials are not intended to substitute for commercial testing and are quite limited in their nature and insufficient to allow the companies to directly identify hybrid combinations... Each year the seed companies provide DPI&F with reports outlining the use they have made of germplasm in breeding and the sales of hybrids that contain DPI&F germplasm which is used to calculate royalty payments... The list will not identify particular line numbers but will detail the year a cross was made, the pedigrees of the lines and the reason the particular cross was made (e...

Herbicide response in the new French hardseeded serradella varieties, Margurita Aand Erica A, was similar to Cadiz A. They had reasonable tolerance to Spinnaker #(PSPE), Broadstrike #and Raptor #, and were very sensitive to simazine #, Jaguar #, Tigrex #and phenoxy herbicides... AIMS To evaluate herbicide tolerance (and sensitivity) of new pasture varieties and select lines nearing commercial release to a wide range of herbicides, particularly those used for broadleaf weed control... Breeding lines evaluated included the two hardseeded French serradella varieties that will be commercially ...

The application of potassium (K) fertiliser at rates up to 40 kg/ha of K significantly decreased the percentage of leaf area diseased for spot-type net blotch and powdery mildew of barley... The chloride source significantly reduced the percentage of leaf area diseased at rates of 10 and 20 kg/ha of applied K. The two sources of K (KCl, or K 2SO 4) gave significantly different yield response curves where powdery mildew was present... In regions prone to leaf disease we suggest farmers take soil samples before seeding to determine soil K levels...

" Attachment to Project DAS00017 Reducing the impact of climate variability Frost Table 1: Agronomic practices to reduce frost risk ranked in order of importance Soil Heat Bank Ranking Description Ave temp at Manipulation canopy height 1... Reducing frost risk by increasing the clay content of sandy surfaced soils is the strongest finding in South Australia... Crops sown twice with half the seed sown in each run gives an even plant density and has been found to more slowly release the soil heat so that it can have an impact on air temperature at head height in early morning when frosts ar...
