Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) causes significant losses to wheat especially in North America... We have new molecular markers (tags) for one resistance needing validation, and in collaboration with North American colleagues, we plan to develop a marker for at least one of the other resistances... Once we have the three resistances in Australian wheat backgrounds it is important to confirm that the presence of the resistances has no detrimental effect on grain quality or on yield in the absence of WSMV disease...
