Improving water use efficiency in Lower Eyre Peninsula farming systems

Plain text source:
Barley trials have been conducted in the areas identified as representing the three major soil types and areas of production on LEP. Nitrogen and foliar disease management trials have been carried out at Cummins and Butler in 2009, 2010, 2011,and 2012, with a further site added in the high rainfall area of Greenpatch/ North Shields in 2010,2011 and 2012... In 2012 water use efficiency was calculated at North Shields to be 10.4kg/ha/mm in the plots where disease control and nutrition was maximised, and 7.9kg/ha/mm where there was no disease control or additional nitrogen applied... 2012 Yield results from the North Shields show relatively poor water use efficiency...
