Crop roots push deeper after lime.. Tony White and his family have increased their wheat yields by applying 2.5 to 3.0 tonnes per hectare of lime and then hiring spading and mouldboard ploughing contractors to push the ameliorant into acidic subsoils on their farm near Miling, Western Australia... For the past two seasons, Tony has harvested more grain by doubling his usual rate of lime and using spading and mouldboard ploughing to really drive the ameliorant into the subsoil...
