Almost half of today's global wheat-growing area is planted with varieties derived from research within the international agricultural research system - primarily CIMMYT, with support also from the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA)... An analysis of the pedigrees of 4604 wheat varieties released worldwide from 1994 to 2014 showed 63 per cent featured genetic contributions from the breeding research of CIMMYT and ICARDA...
