Professor Rick Roush says unless the number of graduates from agriculture courses increases, the long-term viability and sustainability of the industry and the land will be under threat. ".. Despite a public perception that the sector is in decline, Professor Roush says there will be even more demand for highly trained graduates in the future as the need for food for growing populations increases and agricultural conditions become more challenging to manage in the face of climate change... The recently established Australian Council of Deans of Agriculture would also address the impending crisis in agricultural enrolments by working on boosting the sector's public image, improving communication with government and looking at ways to coordinate the curriculum, Professor Roush says...
