Broadacre Field Crops DAFF QLD

Registered items

While choice of chemicals depends on whether the product is registered for the pest and crop there are several other factors to consider when selecting insecticides... Efficacy also depends on your ability to get the product onto the target site, i.e. the insect or the plant surface from where the insect will pick up the insecticide... Systemic pesticides can be move (translocate) from the site of application to another site where they become effective; for example, insecticides that are absorbed by foliage and translocated throughout the plant where they kill chewing or sucking insects...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Pests may include aphids (turnip, cabbage, and green peach), rutherglen bug and helicoverpa ... Other minor pests include locusts , aphids , false wireworm , thrips , loopers , green vegetable bug and blue oat mite ... Minor pests include whitefringed weevil , false wireworm , leafhoppers/jassids , cluster caterpillar , mirids , silverleaf whitefly , thrips , armyworm and cutworm ...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Knockdown with Dichlorvos alone, applied to grain at in-loading (Table 1)... Dilute liquid concentrates in water at the specified rate per litre, then spray 1 litre of the mixture per tonne of grain while auguring the grain or spray 1 litre per 20 square metres of grain surface to control moths... The spray equipment must be calibrated to spray 1 litre of solution per tonne of grain...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Pea blue butterflies have a wingspan of 30 mm... Larvae are variable in colour ranging from a uniform pale cream to pale pink with darker pink markings... The pale brown head is usually retracted out of site when the larvae are disturbed...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Highly respected throughout the Australian weed scientists' community, the team conducts valuable research into best-practice weed management for central and southern Queensland agriculture, weed ecology and the safe use of herbicides in crops... Over the past decade, the team has quantified risks associated with the development of herbicide resistance in weeds of the northern grain region, and has made recommendations for avoiding and managing weed populations resistant to important herbicides... Unlike previous models produced in other parts of Australia, the model enables simulation of ...
GRDC Taxonomy:
The Sutherland variety has good tolerance to rust... Can cause major crop losses if it starts early and is uncontrolled... Chemical registrations and permits Check the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority chemical database and permit database for chemicals registered or approved under permit to treat this disease on the target crop in your state or location...
Photograph of the side of the head and shoulder of a black feral pig lying on the ground.. To maximise effectiveness, free feeding with non-poisoned bait should be performed for several days prior to laying poisoned baits... Constant maintenance is required to ensure that any damage can be quickly repaired and the fence remains a barrier to pigs...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Larvae move with a distinctive looping action and have only two pairs of ventral prolegs... Larvae are primarily foliage feeders in soybeans but will attack the flowers and developing pods in azuki beans, mungbeans and navy beans... In azuki beans, mungbeans, and navy beans, where flowers and pods are attacked the threshold is set at three looper larvae per square metre...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Monitoring: Inspect crops weekly during the vegetative stage and twice weekly from very early budding onwards until crops are no longer susceptible to attack (late podding)... Crops should be scouted for looper eggs and moths to pinpoint the start of infestations and to increase the chance of success of biopesticides such as Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)... Small loopers (less than 12 mm long) can be controlled with Bt; more than one application may be required...
GRDC Taxonomy:
Soybeans can be attacked by pests at any stage from seedlings to close to harvest, but are most attractive from flowering onwards... Soybeans set a large number of reserve pods and can compensate for insect damage during early podding by diverting energy to fill these reserve pods... Late bug damage is a major factor affecting seed quality...
